Sixteen replacements reach Company I, 414th Infantry Regiment, 104th Infantry Division, the Timberwolves. He is one of them. The company's Morning Report gives its station as the vicinity of Aachen, Germany and records his classification: MOS 745, rifleman.

Wounded in action in Germany
His regiment's Morning Report for 21 November carries the line “Slightly wounded in action in Germany”, dated the 19th, and sends him to the 45th Evacuation Hospital. The hospital's admission sheet records penetrating wounds to his back, both arms and both legs and marks him (BC), battle casualty. He had been with his rifle company for five days.
His grandson told us only that he was wounded in Germany on 19 November 1944. The record agrees to the day.

The hospital roster lists Stephen NMI Ragonesi, Pvt, 31367349, Inf among sixty-one enlisted men admitted that day. Eupen lies about fifteen kilometres inside Belgium. He is released from attachment there the next morning and continues through the Army's hospital system.

On 5 December his name appears under “Transferred to United Kingdom”. The next night he is admitted to the 4110th U.S. Army Hospital from hospital train #55 at 2200, entered as “Pvt, Co I 414th Inf, Pen W both legs and arms”. That is the last page in the digitized records that names him.
